Nageshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the most revered and significant temples in India, dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of the Jyotirlinga. It is located in Dwarka, in the state of Gujarat, India. The Nageshwar temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas mentioned in the ancient texts, and it holds a unique place in Hindu spirituality.

  One of the 12 Jyotirlingas: Nageshwar is the 5th Jyotirlinga in the list of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas, which are considered to be the most powerful and revered shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. Each Jyotirlinga is believed to represent an aspect of Lord Shiva, and they are spread across different parts of India.

  Deity Worshipped: The Nageshwar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the idol here is believed to represent Nageshwar, the lord of all snakes, as the name "Nageshwar" translates to "Lord of Snakes". This name links to the powerful symbolism of Lord Shiva's association with serpents (such as the serpent Vasuki that adorns Shiva's neck).

  Special Significance: Nageshwar is also believed to be the place where Lord Shiva protected his devotee from the demon Daruka and his forces. Legend says that the demon Daruka had imprisoned the sage Supriya and his followers, but when Lord Shiva was invoked, he appeared in his form as Nageshwar to destroy the demon and liberate the sage and his followers.
